Greeting

President Ki-Su LEE

Dear members of the Korean Society of Law,

As we welcome the year 2023, the Year of the Rabbit, symbolizing longevity, peace, and prosperity, I wish you all good health and success. It has been a year since I gave my inaugural address as the 16th President of the Korean Society of Law(“the Society”) at the regular general meeting held in January last year.

During the year of the ox, there have been significant changes and developments in the Korean Society of Law. Firstly, we moved our office from Seocho to Yongsan on May 1st, opening a new chapter in the Society’s history. The move to Yongsan is of great significance, as it allows us to operate from a building under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Justice, regaining our legitimacy as a corporation with no connection to other unrelated buildings we previously used. Secondly, we have expanded the scope of our academic research division and in addition to the previous "research reports," we have published new "Current Issue Report" covering topics deemed necessary by the academic research division.

With the pursuit of these changes, we successfully held the 13th Korean Law Academy Conference on October 27th and 28th. Despite the difficulty of holding face-to-face events due to the pandemic, the enthusiastic efforts of the preparatory committee, active participation of various associations and institutions, and the support of our members made the conference a great success, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude.

As the President of the Korean Society of Law, my goal is to become a "lawyer who studies." To achieve this, I promise to work hard in 2023 to ensure that the Society becomes a venue for legal training and research based on the trust of our members. I ask for your continued interest and participation.

Once again, I wish you all good health and success in the Year of the Rabbit, and I hope for the continuous development of the Korean legal community and tthe Korean Society of Law.

Thank you.
